In Base Camp:
While we are in base camp, you will rest comfortably in real beds in the most charming tents! Breakfast is served in a large, heated cook tent and other meals are generally served around the fire pit area (or out on the trail), weather permitting.
There is an outhouse and a shower tent available, although we do encourage limiting showering and embracing the wilderness.
As we will cover in our first hours together, no bear attractants are to be left in tents – this includes any food, scented toiletries, toothpaste, etc. Bear attractants should be left in vehicles or given to Wilderness Trails Outfitters staff to be stored in the commissary trailer.
In Wilderness Camp:
For camps that have an overnight pack trip component (weekends 2 & 3), tents will be provided (and packed in!) as shown above. Cowgirl Campers are responsible for setting up our own tents, with help and guidance as necessary. Cowgirl Campers also have the option of sleeping under the stars.
Meals are cooked over an open fire and we will learn about backcountry cooking and being bear-aware while cooking in their habitats.
There will be ‘bearproof’ pack panniers available to store bear attractants in.
